We all want to do our part to help the environment. It's not only for our health and wellbeing but that of our children and the entire planet. Well, it's not difficult to make a few easy changes to help the environment.
1. Go Meatless More Often
Did you know that 51% of greenhouse gas emissions is actually caused by animal agriculture? Cattle ranching is also a major cause of deforestation in the Amazon. Just by eating vegetarian or vegan as often as you can, you not only get a powerful dose of immune-boosting veggies but you'll be doing your part to save the rainforest and clean the air! It's actually the number one and easiest thing you can do! We love our Indian food, veggie burgers, bean burritos, and salads!
2. Walk, Ride A Bike Or Take Public Transportation
It's hard to break the habit of driving everywhere if you live somewhere like LA! However, we love to remind ourselves to walk when we're going somewhere in the neighborhood, or take the Metro when we're going to the museum, downtown or now even, the beach! It's the next biggest emitter of greenhouse gas and air pollution, so walk or ride your bike and get some exercise while you're saving the planet.
3. Incorporate Drought Tolerant Landscaping And Cut Your Water Bill
Drought tolerant landscaping is unique, beautiful and much more sustainable for water and wildlife. California native plants help our eco-system and helps preserve our natural resources. There are amazing groundcover alternatives like buffalo grass, dune sedge or yarrow to replace lawns with. Get creative with use of mixed materials like sand, rocks, and boulders for no-water textural flair.
